Alan H. Dean, Managing Partner, Fund Operations, Greer Capital
Mr. Dean has more than 20 years experience in all aspects of technology transfer, in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors. Prior to joining GCA, Mr. Dean was Director of the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio's Office of Technology Transfer, where he played a prominent role in the formation of numerous successful technology companies, and in greatly elevating licensing productivity. Mr. Dean was also head of technology commercialization at Southern Research Institute, an institution known for its oncology drug discoveries, and led the team responsible for licensing Institute inventions and forming technology spin-offs. He co-founded the drug-delivery company, Southern BioSystems, Inc. Mr. Dean has served in a director and advisory capacity on many corporate boards, a notable example being an advisor for GCA's S.C.O.U.T. Fund and sits on the board of CardioSpectra, Inc. as well as BioDtech. Mr. Dean's educational background includes an MBA from the UAB and a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Alabama.
Charles A Reinhart III, Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, PharmAthene, Inc.
Mr. Reinhart joined PharmAthene with over 25 years of diverse financial experience, including 15 years within the biopharmaceutical industry. Mr. Reinhart served previously, at Millennium as Senior Vice President Finance & Corporate Strategy overseeing the accounting and financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, tax, treasury, insurance and strategic sourcing functions and participated in all capital market and business development transactions. Prior to joining Millennium, Mr. Reinhart fulfilled similar responsibilities as the Vice President, Finance at Cephalon, Inc. Mr. Reinhart held executive positions in finance at several early stage healthcare and biotechnology companies including Delsys Pharmaceutical Corporation, GenVec, Inc. and Dynamic Digital Displays, Inc. Mr. Reinhart is a certified public accountant. He graduated cum laude from Lehigh University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and earned an M.B.A. from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
J. David Sakura, PhD, Senior Advisor, Fortis Securities Inc.
Dr. Sakura has close to 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and biomedical industries. Since 1994, he has been a managing director with Fortis Securities, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Fortis, a Dutch-Belgium financial group. Dr. Sakura is active in life science investment banking in Europe as well as in the United States. Previously, he was President and co-founder of Aberlyn Capital Management Company and senior consultant with Arthur D. Little, Inc. Dr. Sakura received his PhD in biochemistry from the University of Arizona, and a Masters in Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Sakura was a founding member of the Advisory Council for the Center for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease at the Harvard School of Public Health.
